It’s easy to fall into the trap of comparing our insides to other people’s outsides. Evaluating and critiquing ourselves based on the carefully curated image someone presents to us will never end well. We cannot compete with a projected ideal.
However, knowing this is true and acting on it are two different things.
My mantra for these occasions?
I will not compare myself to strangers on the Internet. I will not compare myself to strangers on the Internet. I will not compare myself to strangers on the Internet. I will not compare myself to strangers on the Internet. I will not compare myself to strangers on the Internet. I will not compare myself to strangers on the Internet.
Repeat as needed.
Comparisons are useful only in evaluating things, not people.
