Many aspects of mental health and wellness involve waiting. Waiting for medication to work. Waiting to put techniques learned in therapy to use the next time a particular situation arises. Waiting for therapy appointments. As I’ve written before, Tom Petty got it right. The waiting really is the hardest part.
It’s all the more true when you’re not sure what you’re waiting for exactly. There’s a sense of anticipation that something new or different is on the horizon, but it isn’t clear what it is or when it will arrive.
I’m coming to understand that I’m not really waiting. Instead, I’m on the journey.
I’m in the process, in the work.
Amen. As usual, Liz, you send the message I need right on time.

It’s called growing, and miscalled growing up. Takes time, and is largely invisible. Like plants.
