Birthday girl

My big girl turns eight today. She wishes she was at school with her friends, but understands that isn’t possible right now. Instead, she’s doing lessons at home, video chatting with her teacher and classmates, and making mint chocolate chip ice cream with her dad for dessert. She told me the best part of turning eight is that it creates more opportunities to learn and do things. She says the hardest part (of everything?) is having a younger sister. She’s most proud of learning patience, because it took a really long time and you have to wait around.

Her response to a socially distant birthday is pearls and a tiara. She is my spirit animal.
