Running lessons

Last weekend, my 10-year old daughter and I ran the Houston Rodeo Run. Although we’ve done 5Ks together before, this time she wanted to try the longer 10K distance. It was the farthest that she’s raced yet.

She did great, finishing in 1:15, a pace of a little over 12 minutes a mile. I’m proud of her strong result, but even more proud of what she told me she learned by doing it. “I can do something hard and even if I need to take a break, I can get right back in it.”

Wise words.
